Spaghetti-Western Rock-n-Roll group Ugly Mothers return to the underground garage rock scene armed with a new single Love You Long Time. Having garnered an unpredictable and powerful live reputation, Ugly Mothers have been busy in their East-London studio preparing their follow-up single Garden of Eden EP.
Love You Long Time is a seedy number, inspired by the sex-tourism industry in the Far-East with the title recycled from the famous line from the film Full Metal Jacket. Complex rhyming couplets, off-beat counter-rhythms and sharp guitar hooks are traits that have become the signature sound of Ugly Mothers.
Taking inspiration from Spaghetti Western film-soundtracks such as Ennio Morricone and Quentin Tarrantino, as well as James Bond themes Ugly Mothers inject blockbuster Hollywood guitar riffs with a cynical, quintessentially British snarl.
Stumbling straight out of sticky Leytonstone and Walthamstow pubs, fuelled by battered sausages from greasy chip-shops, Ugly Mothers juggle, bar-work, superiority complexes, alcoholism and casual drug abuse, while using their dirty guitar music as an escape from an otherwise boring, humdrum and unsuccessful life, riddled with financial insecurity, limited career opportunities and disappointing romantic relationships.
Ugly Mothers have already amassed a small cult following after a spout of riotous gigs across the country featuring pyrotechnics, fist-fights and broken guitars. The spout of gigs in Liverpool, London and Brighton were promoting debut single Gringo which was well-received by local critics. Gringo was added to several streaming playlists including rebelrebel, Whatsnewindie and Top 20 Independent Tracks 2019. The single was also played on several national and international radio stations, the furthest as far as Australia.
